WHAT WE DO

CITIZENS HELPING HEROES

Citizens Helping Heroes provides both direct and indirect support to our military, to their families, and to allied support organizations, such as the USO and TAPS, (the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors).

One of the primary platforms that CHH uses to recognize and honor our military servicemenbers is through signature events, both at regional military hospitals and installations, and at nationally-prominent venues.

Our most notable occasions - the 2005 and 2009 Heroes Red, White & Blue Inaugural Balls in Washington, DC - have honored servicemembers and their families, including over 300 wounded warriors from Walter Reed Army Medical Center and the National Naval Medical Center. Citizens Helping Heroes' Presidential Inaugural events celebrate freedom, democracy, service and the Inauguration of America's President, all of which are made secure and preserved by those who serve in our military. Luminaries such as Larry King, Ben Vereen, Michael Bolton, Sly and The family Stone and George Clinton and Parliament have taken to the stage to perform in their honor.

CHH is also active in recognition programs that both honor our troops and encourage fellow Americans to show their support for our military. In 2011, a U.S. Senate resolution was passed designating May 1st as "Silver Star Banner Day," a national day of observance honoring our nation's wounded warriors. As a committed advocate for those who serve, CHH has been proud to be a part of raising awareness of Silver Star Day. We most recently paid tribute to our troops with two Heroes Silver Star Day Events at Walter Reed Army Medical Center and at Ft. Belvoir Hospital, which honored and entertained over 1,500 service personnel and staff, and received local and global media attention for Silver Star Day.

Friends of Citizens Helping Heroes have included business and political leaders, members of the Department of Defense and Congress, celebrities, tireless volunteers, and generous sponsors, including: Lockheed Martin, Humana Military Services, Tri-west Healthcare, Northrop Grumman, GEICO, Enterra Solutions, CACI, Harris Corporation, Anheuser Busch, Hershey Company, GE Aviation and Parker Pens to name just a few.
